The Drum Shop is Northern New England’s trusted source for drums and percussion. Located in beautiful downtown Portland Maine our retail shop features a wide range from beginner to the highest quality acoustic drums, electronic drums, cymbals, hand drums, percussion, sticks, heads, hardware, and accessories.
We have a 3700 sq ft show room packed with the best products at the best prices available. We also maintain 3000 square foot warehouse that is packed with vintage and used drums. This warehouse also allows us to overstock new drumsets and hardware that we purchase when your favorite manufacturers offer big discounts. We then pass the savings on to you.
We have a strong history as an educational center. We focus on providing our customers outstanding education and information along with the best products. Our focus on young musicians has established Our thriving education department is staffed with professional music educators and respected gigging musicians teaching everything from rock to jazz, with additional focus on world percussion, marching and classical styles.
The Drum Shop is also a meeting place for local drummers and musicians. We frequently feature clinics, workshops, and a helpful staff familiar with all aspects of drum equipment, and repair. We are proud to say our in-store staff and teachers are great players and active in the local music community across many genres.

The Staff

Chris Dealaman Chris Dealaman grew up in a house of music and drumming. His dad Albie who was widely known in New Jersey and New York in the early bop days and later in the Portland area played with many well known musicians. Chris has been playing for over 30 years in area bands, covering mostly commercial-style engagements. The Drum Shop has been his since 1996 to justify a vintage drum addiction and genuine passion for the instrument. Four locations and 14 years later the Drum Shop has a great history of providing area players access to the best advice and the right tools for their craft. “Working” at his dream job, Chris continues to balance playing music and family too. He resides locally with his wife Maureen and sons Nate and David. |

Josh Fournier Josh grew up in the Westbrook and Poland music programs, playing everything from Jazz to Steel drums. He plays in his church and sits in at a number of different local churches. He currently plays with a funk-rock-gospel group called BeyondBlue. He now works and teaches for the Westbrook marching band. Josh has been committed to The Drum Shop for over 3 years and loves to get people into the right gear. Josh resides in Gorham and is getting married in June to his high school sweetheart Beth. (They were marching band geeks together!) |

Stefen Samuels Stefen teaches drumset and is an employee at The Drum shop. He has been playing in the local Portland scene for over a decade. He has studied with world class players such as Gary Chaffee, Les Harris Jr., Nancy Smith, Dr. Stuart Marrs, and Phil Verrill. . |

Jason Stewart Jason has been a fixture in the Portland, Maine music scene for almost 20 years. He’s done national tours with 6 Gig and Conifer, and countless shows around the Northeast with The Nigel Hall Band, Twitchboy and currently with Sidecar Radio. With 30 years of playing under his belt, and just being a drum geek in general, Jason brings a unique perspective to the shop. |
