Girl drums

If anyone here has seen the "Daisy Rock Girl Guitars," you'll understand where I'm coming from. These guitars were created with girls in mind, in pink and purple finishes, or in heart/butterfly/flower shapes, and come with stickers, etc...

Why haven't any of the drum companies specifically marketed to girls? There are a lot of girls taking up the drums, and I read in trade magazines that tons of retailers are getting requests for pink and purple drum sets for girls (the Daisy Rock equivalent drum set?)...

It seems like a largely untapped market that someone would be capitalizing on. If I had to guess, I would think someone like Peace might pick up on this, maybe Pearl or Mapex.

Of our 200 students, I would say we have 25-30% of them being female, which is WAY more than in the past. It's great. I thought the same thing, about kits being marketed to girls, and for my money, I'd say Pacific should do it. We've seen DW exploit several products to test the market, (a full page in MD about a SNARE stand?)
and I bet a series with 3 colors would be a safe way of testing the waters.

You're right Shane, Pacific should do it. I'm having this discussion over on another board, and one guy actually thinks it is sexist, as if it would pigeon-hole the girls and say "we would like to define your gender by the drums you play."

I don't think that's the case, I think just as Daisy Rock makes guitars that appeal to girls' tastes, so can a drum co. make drums that do it. It's not about defining, it's about appealing. It could be a money maker.
