The kid gloves are off. August is approaching, and I want to step into quality drums.

I have a Premier Artist birch. I consider the sound to be bright, with nop midrange presence. In fact, PDP drums have much more warmth. The closest to the right sound on these drums comes from EC2 batter heads and classic clear resos.

I was considering Sonor force 3005, because they make all the sizes I want. The problem is, I don't want to go lateral with drums. I have read complaints that pearl session really don't project like yamaha or sonor. I want to get into a fat, warm and projecting kit.

I am assuming that the sonor delite are a given. But under the price of that...what are the best choices? I don't really want to drop $4K on a 5-pc shellpack if I can achieve the sound for less.

Sounds like you are a candidate for an Oak Custom Yamaha kit.
