I recently heard the GMS CL kit played at a clinic by Nat Townsley. At the same clinic Marco Minnemann played a huge DW kit and Steve Smith played his Sonor kit. They all sounded great but I was really impressed by the sound of the GMS CL kit--it sounded awsome!. That added to the fact that the GMS CL kit is under $2K. I have been considering upgrading my kit to either a Pearl Session or a Tama Starclassic Performer but after this I am seriously considering the GMS CL over the Pearl or Tama.
What would you consider the pros and cons of the GMS vs the Pearl or Tama kits mentioned?

Well I dont know to much about the GMS or Pearl because I dont own eaithr or played on many. But I do know about the performers. I own a stet of performers. I amsatisfied with them. I mean I would love to get something like a DW or Sonor designer, but i just cant afford that. If you get the right sizes with the performers then you get a good soundin kit i think. I suggest the 10,12,16,22. The Starcast mouting system has its pros and cons. Pros is it pretty lite and dosnt cover alot of the drum. Only con i have really had with it is there 3 more screws ya gotta take off when changing heads. Also the stock heads are pretty bad, even for stock heads. Probably the only really dissapointment I have witht he performers is the snare. I am hopping to buy a differnt snare soon. The sound is ok nothing amazing. If you are a drummer who likes to crank everything on the snare up, this isnt the snare for you. The throw offs on these things are junk! I had to replace mine with a nickle drumworks one which works awesome but a pain to get on. If you wanna know why send me your e mail adress and i will show you. its just to long to describle. Besides that Im happy with my kit, but i do wish i knew about the snares before hand. That can change a persons decisison on what kit to buy or not.[/img]
