We have taken delivery of yet another load of Pearl Sensitone Elite snare drums and I need to make the world aware (if they aren't already) of how incredible these drums are.
I spend my days around drums, and I certainly am opinionated about what I feel is good quality and bad quality, but more than anything, it comes down to quality/price. Sure, if I have $500-$800 to spend, I am probably going to get a great quality and great sounding snare. But is the drum for ME? Does it meet my needs musically, or the band I'm playing with? Is it versatile? I am on a limited budget so I need it to have a broad scope.
These drums are IT. With Steel, Brass, Bronze, and Aluminum available, these things cover all the bases for short money. My personal pics are the 6.5x14 Aluminum and Bronze. These drums are in the low $200 range and EVERY drummer should own one. They cover the bases and the sound is incredible. These are the best sounding drums in this price range that I have ever heard. If you are local, come try them, but I must warn you....you may buy one. Or 5.
I just picked up a Bronze 14" x 6.5" Sensitone Elite today at the Mike Mangini clinic for a great price of $234.50. I have heard the commotion over the Sensitone snares for awhile, but I never really acknowledged it because I didn't believe there would be such a snare for a such a low price. Boy was I wrong. This snare sounds just as good, if not better, than some of the high end expensive snare drums I have played. It is increibly sensitive and versatile, hence the name "Sensitone"; this snare just blows my mind. I wholeheartedly agree when Shane, this is a snare that every drummer should own.
It may have been an impulse buy, but by no means a rash decision.
